In randomized, placebo-controlled studies of healthy adults, a single injection produced dose-dependent increases in average GH concentrations of approximately 2- to 10-fold for six days or longer. Average IGF-1 concentrations increased approximately 1.5- to 3-fold for 9–11 days.


After repeated administration, elevated IGF-1 levels persisted for up to 28 days.


Another human study found that CJC-1295 increased mean GH secretion while preserving the pulsatile pattern normally associated with natural growth hormone release.


These findings establish that CJC-1295 can influence the GH/IGF-1 axis.


What they do not establish is that CJC-1295 has been clinically proven to improve every outcome commonly associated with higher growth hormone levels.


Potential CJC-1295 Benefits

CJC-1295 is commonly discussed in connection with:

Research involving growth hormone has demonstrated decreases in fat mass and increases in measured fat-free mass in certain populations. But some studies also show that increased extracellular fluid contributes substantially to apparent increases in lean mass.


That means claims of dramatic muscle building from growth hormone-related interventions deserve caution—and evidence involving HGH should not automatically be treated as evidence for CJC-1295.

CJC-1295 and Muscle Growth

CJC-1295 is also frequently promoted online as a muscle-building peptide.

The mechanism makes the interest understandable.


Increasing GH can subsequently increase IGF-1, and both hormones participate in biological processes related to tissue growth.


But an increase in GH or IGF-1 does not automatically translate into a clinically meaningful increase in muscle size, strength, or athletic performance.


In a randomized study involving healthy, physically active adults receiving supraphysiological growth hormone—not CJC-1295—fat-free mass increased, but researchers determined that much of that change could be explained by increased extracellular water.


So CJC-1295 should not be presented as a proven muscle-building treatment based simply on its ability to increase growth hormone.


CJC-1295 and IGF-1

One of the best-established CJC-1295 effects is its influence on IGF-1.


IGF-1 is primarily produced by the liver in response to growth hormone signaling and participates in numerous growth and metabolic processes throughout the body.


In one controlled human study, CJC-1295 increased average IGF-1 concentrations approximately 1.5- to 3-fold following a single dose.


A separate study found that CJC-1295 increased IGF-1 approximately 45% one week after administration while maintaining pulsatile growth hormone secretion.


These hormonal effects are considerably better established than claims regarding recovery, muscle gain, or fat reduction.


CJC-1295 With DAC vs Without DAC

Patients researching CJC-1295 may encounter terms such as:


CJC-1295 with DACCJC-1295 without DAC


DAC stands for Drug Affinity Complex, a modification designed to allow the peptide to bind to albumin and remain active substantially longer.


This distinction is important because products marketed under the CJC-1295 name are not necessarily chemically identical.


FDA's review has specifically noted uncertainty surrounding the precise CJC-1295 substances used in some published clinical studies and differences among CJC-1295-related substances being proposed for compounding.


Patients should therefore be cautious about treating every product marketed as "CJC-1295" as equivalent to the compound evaluated in published research.


Is CJC-1295 FDA Approved?

No. CJC-1295 is not an FDA-approved medication.


FDA states that available clinical data for CJC-1295 are limited and has identified potential concerns involving immunogenicity, peptide-related impurities, and product characterization.


The agency has also identified serious adverse events associated with CJC-1295, including increased heart rate and systemic vasodilatory reactions.


FDA's detailed evaluation further concluded that the long-term safety profile in humans remains unknown.
